Another toy gun hacked into a noisy toy gun (the base is a toy gun bought in a 100yen shop). It seems like it is becoming a series.
No name for this one yet but some pictures:
Inside the gun:

Everything necessary is inside. There is one sound output, one switch for turning the gun on, one body contact area, two pots for tuning the sound. The trigger is used to move mechanical parts inside the gun that cause the sound to change a little bit.

Preparing my performance at the opening party of Peluche x Peluche, I had to find a way to amplify the sound of the noisy dolls that comes from speakers inside the dolls.
Electret microphones are perfect as only a very simple electric circuit is necessary to power them and the power required can be quite low (1.5V but they support higher voltage for more amplification). Moreover they are very small.
I made a small box for three of these mics (the three black wires). Power supply is only 3V.
Miou is organizing an exhibition of artists plush dolls at Lovelies Lab starting this Saturday 21 October 2006.
I will perform at the opening party (Saturday 21 October 18:30) with the dolls I made with Shojo no Tomo and may be some other devices. The other performance will be by Peter Kastner of the Trans Industrial Toy Orchestra (TITO) who will perform with his own dolls.
We should do an improvisation duo together.

I’ve uploaded pictures and a video of Noisy Crucifixion vol. 3 at SuperDeluxe on 11 October 2006.
Unfortunately Ryfylke didn’t show up but it was a great evening anyway.

As promised, a sound sample of the laser gun.
A movie would be better but just imagine that most of the sound changes are because the gun is pointing at different light sources or no light at all. If I can I will upload a movie.
Here my last device for fx.stilte.
It’s once again based on the same sound generator chip I used for the noisy dolls. There are two photoresistors that make the gun produce different sounds depending on the ambient light. The sound output is activated when pulling on the trigger. There are two pots on the top of the gun for setting the sound in addition to the photoresistors. On the back, there is a volume pot and a sound output. The battery that supplies power is inside. The only wire is thus the one for the sound output. Using a headphone, the gun is portable.
The base is a water gun.

The electronic is finished but there are some things to improve such as replacing the white tape or put real fx.stilte stickers. I’ll upload some sound samples or a small movie soon.

Pictures and a video here.

The new Shinya Tsukamoto’s movie will be released in spring 2007.
It is with Ryuuhei Matsuda, Hitomi and Ren Osugi. A story of dreams, detective, mobile phone, mysteries, suicides, …

Some pictures of the No Fun Fest at Tokyo Uplink Factory on 30 September 2006.
There was a lot of people, certainly because of the presence of Jim O’Rourke, Akita Masami (Merzbow) and Carlos Giffoni on stage. But to be honest, the live was quite disappointing. One hour of noise that sounded sometimes very nice but was quite boring most of the time, I think mainly because the three musicians (they played together) didn’t prepare this show very well and it was more like each of them was doing his own music without caring much about the two others. Well, at this price, I was expecting much more that this kind of onanist noise show.
